Cayman Turtle Farm
Originally named Las Tortugas (the turtles), The Cayman Islands were overrun with green sea turtles by the time Christopher Columbus arrived in 1503. By the early 1900s, the population of wild turtles was becoming depleted. The Cayman Turtle Farm was established in 1968 to repopulate the islands with these gentle creatures. On your visit here, you can see tiny hatchlings and 600-pound centenarians - and even pat their wrinkled necks!
